How Can We Measure Gentrification and Racial Change in Washington, DC?

Anyone who visited or lived in the nation’s capital in the twentieth century would easily conclude that the city has changed. But, how can you tell if a particular neighborhood has gentrified? The Mapping Gentrification team uses a variety of tools to measure gentrification, including a housing survey using Google Street View, Census data, interviews, and ethnography.
